The Hancock Lake Cottage "Mermaid Avenue" is an ideal spot for downtime in the hill country. Enjoy a fun-filled vacation—you will never be bored here.
The Hancock Lake Cottage is located at the end of a peninsula in a quiet lake community, one of two houses on a roughly ~1 acre lot.
Comfortable and cozy, the cottage has linens and housewares and everything you need to unwind for a week or a month. You will feel right at home in the bright kitchen and dining area of this delightful lakefront retreat.
You can walk right in to the water off our private seawall just 50 yards from your cottage. You will have access to the entire cottage, kayaks, and loungers. From time to time we are in the main house—maybe one or two weekends a month. There are also community boat ramps and parks all around Lake Buchanan.
The Hancock Lake Cottage is in a down to earth, cozy neighborhood with full-time residents as well as weekenders. There isn’t much traffic, so you can enjoy jogging and biking on our quiet streets. It gets dark at night and the stars are big and bright—enjoy gazing at the Milky Way!
If you need snacks you can visit the Bluffton General Store and Fall Creek winery in nearby Tow. Or, if you want a big grocery store you can go to the HEB in Kingsland or Lowes Market in Llano 15-20 minutes away.
For a day out you might enjoy the caves at the Longhorn Caverns State Park, the Vanishing River Cruise, Canyon of the Eagles State Park, Inks Lake, Enchanted Rock, or the Fall Creek, Perissos or Torr Na Lochs vineyards.
Another great day trip is Llano where you can walk the river, go to Castell General Store, eat the best BBQ around (Coopers), golf, or fish. Also try Colorado Bend State Park for some hiking.
